ANNETTE G. BUTLER is a former Assistant United States Attorney having served as lead trial attorney in the Northern District of Ohio office for 24 years until her retirement in 2006. As an Assistant U.S. Attorney Ms. Butler litigated numerous bench and jury cases and briefed and argued more that 30 appeals before the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals. Ms. Butler also practiced law for eight years in the private sector as an associate with the firm formerly known as Guren, Merritt, Sogg and Cohen.

Ms. Butler is currently teaching law courses–Criminal Law and Procedure, Business Associations, Legal Research and Writing--in the paralegal studies program at the Academy of Court Reporting.

Ms. Butler has a long history of public service in Cuyahoga County having served as a board member and Vice-President of the Cleveland State University Board of Trustees, and Presidents of the Cleveland-Heights University Heights Library Board and the Shaker Heights Library Board . She is also the first woman elected President of the Cleveland City Club. She is a member of the charter class of Leadership Cleveland.

Currently Ms. Butler serves on the prestigious Advisory Committee for the Federal District Court for the Northern District of Ohio and the Alternative Dispute Resolution Panel for the Northern District of Ohio . She is past President and current board member the Federal Bar Association for the Northern District of Ohio

She received her undergraduate degree from Mather College of Case Western Reserve University and her J.D. from the Cleveland Marshall Law College of Cleveland State University.

Ms. Butler is the proud mother of two adult children, Christopher and Kimberley.
